From the Tuesday Nov. 9 meeting announcement:
"TDOT will also have representatives available to answer questions on the relocation assistance program, right-of-way acquisition, and construction."
We know there will always be some right-of-way acquisition, but who's getting relocated? Are they going to relocate a golf course? Where? Are there homes in Springbrook near the Hunt Rd. interchange that will be affected?
Anyone along the path of the "parkway" should come to the meeting and ask these and other questions.

About this site
The purpose of this site is to provide an online clearinghouse for information about the proposed Alcoa Parkway bypass and to promote public awareness and public participation in the process. We believe that the original proposal to improve the existing Alcoa Highway corridor needs a second look as a viable alternative for correcting safety and capacity problems, and that the public should have more input in selecting the preferred build alternative.

That's about 10 times more
That's about 10 times more road than is needed. They must be giving great consideration to minimizing disruption of traffic during construction versus minimizing long-term destruction.
I will not be satisfied until I see dirt starting to be moved
Marsh was only within a few votes of winning--maybe there's a good number of citizens that are satisfied without having the Parkway?
If you wish, you could post the following in an e-mail to Mr. Corker, who is a fan of steel wheel transit:

"Dear Mr. Corker:
There is an empty railroad track right across Alcoa Hwy from the Tyson Airport. The other end of the rail is at the '82 World's Fair Site. TDOT plans on re-building the bridge between those two points WITHOUT placing a railroad tunnel (just a tunnel, tracks can come later) underneath it. I have heard that you are a Passenger Rail fan, so I humbly beg you to contact the Blount County Chamber of Commerce, Knoxville Area Transportation Planning Organization, and TDOT and demand that they place at least an empty tunnel underneath the Hunt Road/Alcoa Hwy bridge!
Sincerely,
Your Name Here
P.S. There is a meeting for public input regarding the re-building of the Alcoa Hwy bridge, on November 9th, in the city of Alcoa."
